Volunteers needed at Upper Darby Senior Center
A community works best when its members care for one another, giving of their time and talents. There are plenty of opportunities in the region for volunteer efforts, but right now, one of the greatest needs is for one of the greatest generations.
“The Upper Darby Senior Center provides volunteer opportunities for individuals receiving public benefits,” said a post on the state’s website. “This unpaid role is approved to count toward the 80-hour-per-month work requirement for eligibility. Volunteers contribute valuable service hours that support community programs while maintaining their benefit eligibility.”
This program provides volunteer opportunities to fulfill work requirements as part of the SNAP benefits. Volunteers will have the ability to earn hours for SNAP work requirements.
“Volunteers work on the project of the day at Upper Darby Senior Center, which offers programs and activities for seniors at our center,” said a social media post on the positions. “Participants are welcome to engage in the wide variety of offerings.”
Currently, senior center staff is seeking an Office Assistant.
“The Office Assistant will provide administrative support to staff by answering phones, greeting visitors, making copies, and keeping work areas organized,” explained the post. “At times the assistant will conduct tours of the center for potential members, assist with event preparations, assembling packets, and assisting with activity and program. preparation.”
